Assisted Living #2

Early Concepts

Once the dust had settled on our decision to make Assisted Living we started to flesh out the overall concept. What type of game did we want to make? John, Kyle, and myself all had played quite a few games so we decided to compile lists of the games we liked, why we liked them, and mechanics that were fun. During this process we also came up with our game Pillars, questions that would guide us in our development of this game.

Assisted Living Pillars:

  • Is it fun?

  • Is it replayable?

  • Is it balanced?

  • Is it easy to understand?

With our Pillars defined and our lists overflowing with information we spent a few meetings carving out the basics. Assisted living will be a loot and scoot PVP game that takes place in an assisted living facility. People would raid rooms in the facility which may or may not have zombies in them. We wanted it to be able to support 6 players but it should also work as a 1v1. By week 3 we had a solid foundation to run with, a long google doc full of ideas, and even a few rough board concepts (see below)
